[7/18/26] Luck on the Ground
New hobby unlocked. $4$-leaf 🍀’s. I collect them now :)
Before the spiel, this is the video that inspired everything:
And as you can see I jumped on it right away. It took about an hour (which to me felt ridiculously long given that I was in a very dense patch). But mission accomplished!
I even got a response from Rabbit Hole
The first hunt (that’s what I’m calling them now) was a medium-small-sized coaster of emotion. Workflow was:
- (minute $0$) Get inspired
- (minutes $0\rightarrow5$) Go outside
- (minutes $5\rightarrow15$) Wow these really are rare (slightly sweaty)
- (minutes $15\rightarrow45$) Where in the actual fuck are they (betrayed)
- (minute $55$) I give up (nihilist)
- (minutes $55\rightarrow60$) Lemme spend a bit more time looking as I walk home (optimist)
- (minute $60$) Success! (best person ever)
The tips I implemented - which felt useless - were to keep walking, prioritize shady areas, and don’t crouch over. In my mind the name of the game is just to maximize:
\[\text{4-Leaf 🍀's Found}\approx \frac{\text{🍀's Observed}\cdot\text{Observation Accuracy}}{\text{Frustration}}\]
I feel like my main weak-point during the first hunt, was accuracy. Many a 🍀 were glossed over. You can’t be lazy. This takes discipline. Sacrifice. First born. Second born. To maximize odds, sacrifice one kid per 🍀 leaf. That’s what the video won’t tell you.
Today I hunted again. I am thrilled to report I found not one, not three, but two $4$-leaf 🍀’s, and…. a 5-leaf-mother-fucking 🍀.
Bow, and don’t get up.
By the way I should mention, I have a new superstition. 4-leaf 🍀’s are lucky, but they must be used. Ingested. So from now on I’ll sparingly be using these as liquid luck. 5-leaf 🍀’s for a nuclear dose.
That’s it from me. I recommend touching grass, but only if it has $4$ or more leaves.
